VOLUNTEERING

Volunteers assist staff with various tasks related to animal care, including feeding, cleaning kennels or cages, doing laundry and dishes, administering medications, and preparing for procedures. Tasks will vary day to day based on shelter needs.

How our volunteers help:

  • Dog Handling

  • Cat Handling

  • Community Outreach Team

  • Foster Program

  • Support Team

Volunteers must sign-up for a shift through the button below. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes, such as tennis shoes. Clothing must completely cover the legs and shoulders.

As a non-profit, we rely heavily on our volunteer team. This means that when you sign up for a spot, we are relying on you to show up on time and work through the entirety of your shift. Because volunteer slots are limited, we kindly ask that you only sign up for spots that you are certain you can attend. If you can no longer work the shift you signed up for, please cancel your shift so that another volunteer has the option to sign up.

At this time, we are only able to accept volunteers aged 16 or older. If your child is in need of volunteer hours, please email volunteer@rgvhs.org to be notified of volunteer from home activities.

BECOME A FREEDOM DRIVER

We are always anticipating needing a driver for pets in need. Whether it’s to a clinic for a vet visit or outside the valley to meet a rescue. Freedom drivers are a big part of our lifesaving efforts.

Outside valley cities/areas: San Antonio, Austin, and or Houston.

The Humane Society will
provide all supplies needed to for the pet(s). Example, crate for transportation, blankets, etc. As well as grant volunteer hours for the round trip.

VOLUNTEER HOURS WILL BE GRANTED FOR THE ROUND TRIP

IF REQUESTED!
